Hey everyone, it’s Justin from Strive to Be Fit! I want to talk about something that’s really close to my heart – why fitness is more than just a workout. So many people come to me thinking they just need to lose a few pounds or get stronger. And while those are great goals, fitness is way bigger than that. It’s not just about how much weight you can lift or how far you can run; it’s about creating a balance that affects your entire life.
I’ve been there myself. When I was 14, a jet-ski accident almost changed my life forever. The doctors had to insert a titanium rod and four bolts into my femur to save my leg. That experience really opened my eyes to the fact that nothing in life is guaranteed. You can’t take your body for granted. That’s when I realized that fitness was something I couldn’t ignore – it was something that I needed to live, and I want to share that with others.
Before I found my calling as a personal trainer, I tried different paths—nursing, EMT, even phlebotomy—but none of those made me feel fulfilled. What kept pulling me back was fitness. I loved working out and helping my friends get in shape. It gave me a sense of purpose. That’s why I decided to make it my career, and Strive to Be Fit LLC was born.
Fitness as a Lifestyle
Let’s be honest – the fitness industry can make things confusing. You’ve probably seen endless diets, quick-fix programs, and extreme workout routines. But here’s the truth: there’s no magic pill. Real, sustainable fitness is about creating a lifestyle change. You need to balance three key areas: emotional, spiritual, and physical.
Emotional (The Mindset): Your mindset is everything. If you don’t believe in yourself, it’s going to be tough to stick to your fitness goals. At Strive, we focus on building your mental strength just as much as your physical strength. Whether you’re facing a setback or crushing your goals, your mindset will help you push through.
Spiritual (The Motivation): Everyone’s motivation comes from a different place. For me, it was my accident that made me appreciate my body and what it’s capable of. For you, it might be something else. The point is, when you find what truly motivates you, it becomes easier to stay committed to your fitness journey. And trust me, that’s what will keep you going on the tough days.
Physical (The Movement): This is what everyone thinks about when they think of fitness – the workouts. Yes, moving your body is crucial, but the key is to make it a consistent part of your life. It doesn’t have to be extreme; it just has to be something you can stick with and enjoy. At Strive, I’ll help you find the movements that fit your lifestyle and goals.
Nutrition is the Missing Piece
I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention nutrition. What you eat is just as important as how you move. A lot of people think they can outwork a bad diet, but that’s just not true. You need the right fuel to make your workouts count and to support your overall health. I offer nutritional counseling as part of my training programs because I want you to see results – and trust me, nutrition is the key.
